CONSTR. Comble dissymétrique composé d'un versant court et à forte pente, entièrement vitré et généralement orienté au Nord et d'un versant plus long, à faible pente et couvert de matériaux opaques. La salle de communication des estampes est située immédiatement au-dessus de huit niveaux de magasin. Cette disposition (...) donne un maximum d'éclairage avec le plafond vitré sous une toiture en sheds aux vitrages orientés au nord (CAIN, Transform. B.N., 1959, p. 15). La juxtaposition de plusieurs sheds permet de couvrir des bâtiments de grande surface. C'est un mode de couvrement utilisé pour les bâtiments industriels qu'on veut largement éclairer (NÉR. Hist. Art 1985).
